Research interests:  The importance of the synergy between vision and somesthesia in postural control has been confirmed by studies showing that body and gaze co-stability is relevant to static and dynamic balance. However, few studies have explored how natural aging affects the (re)weighting of visuo-podal inputs during postural control. The aim of my doctoral thesis is to focus on visuo-podal integration in the context of adaptive postural control and spatial navigation. One of the main goals is to better understand the sensori-cognitive factors underlying the interindividual variability in older adults in relation to visuo-podal integration. The characterization of the relative influence of visual and plantar afferents in older adults might help to identify the perceptual-motor-cognitive profiles most at risk of loss of autonomy and falls. This work might thus foster the transfer of knowledge towards the development of preventive solutions as well as the design of rehabilitation protocols and / or mobility services to limit the confinement of older adults and the social isolation which follows, essential factors for the maintenance of the cognitive reserve.

Short bio:  Podiatrist of initial training, I quickly specialized in the evaluation of postural control. During my 15 years of experience as a clinician and professional trainer, my curiosity led me to broaden my fields of competence in order to better understand patients and explain our therapeutic failures. This approach only really took shape with a Master 2 on Psychology, motor control, and sports performance. I am continuing my projects as a Phd student at the Vision Institute in the team Aging in Vision and Action.
