Internship on optometric evaluation of optical aids

Optometric evaluation of optical aids to improve contrast and motion sensitivity (M2 project)

The Aging in Vision and Action Lab at the Institute of Vision, Paris,  is interested in how natural aging impacts visual perception and spatial cognition. The current project deals with contrast sensitivity and motion perception using psychophysical and modelling approaches. Specifically, we measure sensitivity to contrast and motion of human observers as a function of spatial and temporal frequencies and model the outcome. For instance, we use external noise paradigms to measure the variation of internal noise of the visual system as a function of spatial and temporal frequencies. This enables us to identify and characterize the underlying factors limiting contrast sensitivity and motion perception. The aim of this project is to develop and test novel optical aids to maximize contrast sensitivity and motion perception under specific visual conditions.
